Ethics and Conflicts Policy
Standards for fairness, conflicts, privacy and responsible reporting.
Fairness
Coverage should distinguish verified fact, allegation, analysis and opinion. Subjects of serious criticism should receive a reasonable opportunity to respond where appropriate.
Conflicts
Authors and editors should disclose financial, personal or organisational interests that could reasonably affect coverage.
Privacy and harm
We balance public interest against unnecessary harm, avoid exposing sensitive personal data and apply particular care to children and vulnerable people.
Plagiarism and fabrication
Copied reporting, fabricated scenes, fake interviews and invented sources are prohibited.
